Representative Beth Liston and Representative Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) introduced a bill on March 25, 2019 that would create health education standards for students in the state of Ohio. Ohio is the only state that does not have statewide standards for health education.
In the article on the Ohio Statehouse’s website, Rep. Liston is quoted saying, “Although Ohioans are struggling with so many health issues, our state ranks near the bottom in all measures of wellness,” said Rep. Liston. “Ohio’s students deserve to learn about important things like nutrition, exercise, drugs and fighting disease. This bill will help provide our kids the tools they need to live happier, healthier lives.”
